Answer:

Rainbow is formed due to dispersion of light by sun by the rain drops which are suspended in air.

After rain or the moisture in the atmosphere contain water drips which act as a prism which refract the sun light. When they ray of sun strikes or fall on a drop then the drop let the ray undergo refraction and dispersion to form spectrum and we see (ROYGBIV) colours this is the process of rainbow formation.
