2) this causes release of nitric acid and sulfuric acid in the atmosphere.

When Gases Such Co2 and sulphur react with rain water they form acids such as carbonic acid , sulphuric acid or sulphurous acid these acids lower the pH of rainwater and it becomes acid rain.
