When an electric current flows in a wire it creates a magnetic field around the wire.

By winding the wire into a coil we can strengthen the magnetic field. Electromagnets are made from coils like this.

Follow these instructions to make an electromagnet:-

Take an iron nail and a long insulated copper wire. Make a winding of the wire on the iron nail. Connect the insulated copper wire to the battery through a key or a switch. Bring some small iron pieces near the iron nail. Insert the key or on the switch. The copper winding creates an electromagnet which attracts the iron nails

An electromagnet is a type of magnet in which the magnetic field is produced by an electric current.

Here is a simple diagram of a electromagnet :-

It consists of a conductor (iron nail), a source of current (battery), and a coil of wire to flow the current . Here the iron nail is winded by a coil of wire. When this arrangement is flown with a current. It produces a magnetic field and it works as a magnet.

If you want to make your electromagnet strong:-

1.Increase the turns of coil

2.Increase the amount of current.

3. Take a good care.
