electromagnet is made from the solenoid by just rounding the solenoid over a soft iron over it is a temporary strong magnet please shows a magnetic property only when the current passes through the solenoid it get easily demagnetize when we stop the the current. (bar magnet is generally a permanent magnet whose poles cannot be changed and strength between fixed . but an electromagnet the type of magnet whose strength can be changed poles can be changed by just changing the magnitude of current in the direction of current.
