How is an embryo formed?

Answer:
Fertilisation results in the formation of a zygote. The zygote divides repeatedly
to give rise to a ball of cells which then begin to form groups that develop into
different tissues and organs of the body. This developing structure is called an
embryo. It gets embedded in the wall of the uterus for further development.
Embryo thus forms the early stage of the development of a multicellular organism.

First, the zygote becomes a solid ball of cells. Then it becomes a hollow ball of cells called a blastocyst. Inside the uterus, the blastocyst implants in the wall of the uterus, where it develops into an embryo attached to a placenta and surrounded by fluid-filled membranes.
