Ionic bond is formed by the transfer of electrons from one metal to other element.
While
Covalent bond is formed by the sharing of electrons between the two or more atoms.

ionic bond is formed by the attraction of two opposite ions i.e. one positive and other is negative

eg. Na+ + Cl- ----> nacl

covalent bond is formed by the sharing of electrons

eg c + o2 ----CO2
