Anodizing is a process of highly controlled oxidation. It is an electrochemical process.Aluminium is immersed in an electrolytic tank fitted with a cathod, while the aluminium act like an anode. On passing electric current through the tank oxygen is released from the electrolyte.This oxygen combines with aluminium atoms at the surface of anode to form oxide of it. Thus the whole surface of aluminium get coated by oxide.
