lactometers are used to measure density of milk and archimedes principle is only used to find it out

the Archimedes principle is used in lactometers on basis of density..the density of milk increases as te quantity of cream increases. when the creams is more then the lactometer floats to a extent and tells about quantity of cream in milk...
