The black soils are made up of the lava flows and are found in Deccan plateau. They cover the plateaus of Maharashtra, Saurashtra, Malwa Plateau in Madhya Pradesh and extend eastwards in the south along the Godavari and Krishna valleys. The black soil is also known as regur.
