Blood test refers to laboratory analysis of a sample of blood. The blood can be analyzed through physical, microscopic and chemical tests to determine its content and property.

Blood test is very key in medical diagnosis. Through blood tests physicians can determine the functioning of organs such as kidneys, heart, liver among others, diagnose cancer, diagnose diseases such as HIV infection, anemia, bacterial infection and many other pathological and pathophysiological conditions.

How blood test help in diagnosing diseases.

To explain this, I will use a common parasitic infection such as malaria and elaborate how blood tests are used to diagnose the infection.

Malaria infection - malaria is caused when one gets bitten by a female anopheles mosquito. The mosquito deposits the parasite into the bloodstream as it sucks blood that causes the malaria infection - Plasmodium falciparum. These parasites once in the blood (parasitemia - presence of parasite in the blood) reproduce and damage red blood cells.

To confirm whether a person suspected of having malaria, all a doctor needs to do is take a sample of his/her blood which will then be viewed under a microscope to see whether the Plasmodium falciparum parasites are in it.

This is how blood test is used to diagnose malaria.

The same procedure is used to diagnose many other diseases - for example bacterial pneumonia can be confirmed by presence of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria in a blood sample (bacterimia - presence of bacteria in the blood).

Other diseases are diagnosed by checking the normal parameters of blood. For example, anemia is diagnosed when a patient's blood sample reveals red blood cells with limited hemoglobin.

As we realize that blood is a liquid connective tissue, it openly spills out of one section to the next piece of the body.

Any pathogenic creature which enters our body will be in the body stream and can be distinguished by testing the blood test.

We know that blood transports gasses, processed sustenance, hormones and different waste materials from various parts of the body. Henceforth it is anything but difficult to check every one of these segments levels whether they are in the typical or anomalous level, just by taking the blood sample testing.

Along these lines, specialists like to go for a blood test before diagnosing any malady. Complete Blood Picture (CBP) gives the sufficient data about the patient and aides in diagnosing the illness.
