Divide the weight of a person (in kg) by the square of the height (in metres). If this figure is less than 18.5, then the person would be considered undernourished. If this BMI is more than 25, then the person is overweight.
It is important because it helps to measure the undernourished and over nourished among the people.

In order to obtain B.M.I i.e Body mass index of a person we need to just -


divide the weight of the person (in Kgs) by square of the height (in metres)..............

BMI is important because it tells us about a person's health conditions bmi above 18.5 indicates person is well nourished and bmi below 18.5 indiacates the person is undernourished hence a good bmi is important for a healthy nation, and its development as education and health are the assets of economic development.
