This Is Done As Follows

Oxygen enters the blood from the lungs

and carbon dioxide is expelled out of the blood into the lungs.

The blood serves to transport both gases.

Oxygen is carried to the cells.

Oxygen:

# 95 - 97% is transported in haemoglobin in the form of oxyhaemoglobin.

# 3-5% of oxygen is transported as dissolved in plasma.

CO2:

# 20% of CO2 is transported in haemoglobin as carbaminohaemoglobin.

# Nearly 65-70 % is transported as HCO3 ions of sodium and potassium.

# Remaining 5-10% of CO2 is transported as dissolved in plasma.
