Calcium hypochlorite also reacts with carbon dioxide to form calcium carbonate and a chlorine-containing gas which gives bleaching powder its distinctive smell. ... Slaked lime, better known today as calcium hydroxide, is prepared by mixing lime, that is calcium oxide, with water.

Chloride of lime is actually calcium oxychloride (bleaching powder). It's formula is CaOCl2 . Calcium hydroxide -Ca(OH)2 (slaked lime) is reacted with chlorine gas(Cl2) to form CaOCl2. However, the actual process is very complex.
