Coal is formed when dead plant matter decays into peat and is converted into coal by the heat and pressure of deep burial over millions of years.

  • Coal is mostly carbon with variable amounts of variable other elements.

How coal formed : -

  • As we say coal is sedimentary rock so the process is also like all other sedimentary rocks.
  • But sometimes it is metamorphic rock like it made beacuse of pressure and heat.
  • Well coal is formed when dead plants matter decay and after millions of years it truned into coal.
