Answer:

-roots of trees help hold the soil firmly in place and prevent erosion of soil. when trees are absent , soil becomes loose and is more prone to erosion by wind and water.

-trees act as wind breakers to prevent wind erosion. barren land is less fertile as the topsoil is eroded by the wind.

-trees also help in formation of soil as their roots help crush large parent rock into smaller pieces. when deforestation happens, the quality of soil decreases and rockier soil is formed.

-leaves of trees decompose to form humus. when there are less trees, soil fertility also comes down.

-deforested areas have thinner, poorer soil compared to thickly forested areas because the land is eroded continuously by wind and water because trees are not there to prevent erosion.

hope that helps!

Because roots of plants holds the soil and protect it from runing away means erosion

The agents of erosion are air or wind, water , rain .

Degradation means

Breaking and wearing away of sedimentsand lowering the level of land .

Hope this will help you
