There are various ways in which advertising links to issues of equality in a Democratic society.

Usually, crores of rupees are spent in advertising a brand. Producing and showing advertisements in the media is very expensive. Thus, large companies can only advertise.

If someone owns a small business, he won't be able to afford for it and their products aren't considered as fashionable as brand products. This is one way it goes against equality where products are rated by their packages and popularity.

We forget that quality of a product has little to do with the packaging. This shift to packaged products negatively affects the sales of several small business forcing people out of their livelihoods.

In a democracy in which all people are equal and should be able to lead a life of dignity, advertising tends to promote a certain kind of respect for the poor. They aren't the faces we must often see in advertisements and so we tend to dismiss their lives worthless.
