The trees are also helpful for retaining water within the land if they will cut hence the water will no more retain and move .

Deforestation causes drought because trees hold the soil tightly with their roots. If the trees are removed soil erosion occurs which if not fit for growing crops and also trees help in retaining the ground water which os good for irrigation of the field. If trees are not there the water os reduced and there are chances of crop failure. So drought os caused by deforestation
