this is for four main things:

(i) it provides a low impedance path so that overload or short circuit protection can operate, and

(ii) it provides a low impedance paths for lower but still hazardous levels of leakage current to return to earth so that leakage current does not flow through a person touching the faulted appliance;

(iii) the effect in (ii) also provides a low impedance path for leakage current protection to operate; and

(iv) it provides an equipotential bond between the case of the appliance and the general mass of earth in its vicinity, so that the applicance casing cannot become a source of potentially hazardous return currents from other non-faulted circuits in the vicinity.

due to earthing all the extra energy wil be transferred to the ground with out damageing the electronic items
