To form any bond energy is required. This is because the electrons of the constituent atoms repel each other, the nucleus of both the atoms repel each other too. So to overcome such a large repulsion so as to bring both the atoms together, energy is required. Hence for any bond formation energy is required.

Therefore, energy is also required to form carbon carbon bond.
