Filtration and Sieving
Filtration and Sieving
Filtering, sieving and straining are all similar ways of separating mixtures. The process of this is when a grid is used to separated liquids from solids. Filter paper is like a sieve with many tiny little holes in it. Large solids are unable to fit through it but liquids and small particles can. The substance left over in the filter paper is now called the residue and the substance that passes through is called the filtrate.
There are many different types of filters around us. Some of the common ones are:
Tea strainer
Dust mask
Lint filter in clothes dryer
Rice strainer
Sand strainer
i hope it will help you

"Filtration differs sieving, where separation occurs at a single perforated layer (a sieve). ln sieving , particles that are too big to pass throgh the holes of the sieve are retained.
