Food materials are completely oxidised to release carbon dioxide, water and energy. Food materials are incompletely oxidised to release alcohol, carbon dioxide and energy. It Takes place in very few organisms like yeast and in muscles of the human beings. Enzymes responsible for this process are found in mitochondria.

food is oxidised in different organisms by aerobic and anaerobic respiration .in aerobic respiration food is oxidised by 3 process 1) glycolysis 2)kreb cycle 3)electron transfer chain reaction. in anaerobic respiration different organisms oxidised their food by the process of glycolysis and fermentation it give less energy
