How is food securiti ensured in india
Answers
first of all, what's food security?
food security is the availability, accessibility and affordability of food to all people in a country.
food security in our country is necessary because a large section of people are food insecure. they don't have enough money.. they can't afford proper food etc. many people are dying because of this. that's why a proper system must be followed.
food security is ensured in India by :-
⏺BUFFER STOCK - it's the stock of food grains. FCI purchases grains from states where there's surplus production and store it in granaries. it's done to provide food to food insecure people at issue price. issue price is the price lower than the original price.
⏺PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM - next, the food stored by FCI is distributed by PDS (public distribution system).in this system, ration shops are opened in the country. ration shops are also known as fair price shops which keep stock of foodgrains and other things like sugar, oil etc. all these items are sold at a lower price. so the poor people can afford it.
