Explanation:

Geothermal Energy

geothermal plant

If you were to dig a big hole straight down into the Earth, you would notice the temperature getting warmer the deeper you go. That's because the inside of the Earth is full of heat. This heat is called geothermal energy.

People can capture geothermal energy through:

Geothermal power plants, which use heat from deep inside the Earth to generate steam to make electricity.

Geothermal heat pumps, which tap into heat close to the Earth's surface to heat water or provide heat for buildings.

Answer:

Capture the geothermal energy:-

  • The most common way to capture the energy is to tap it into "hydrothermal convection" systems. In these systems, the cooler water drips into Earth's crust and is heated up. Then  it rises to the surface of earth.
  • When the heated water is forced to the surface then simply capture that steam which is further used to drive electric generators.
  • Geothermal power plants make their own holes into the rock to efficiently capture the steam.
  • Geothermal power plants has three basic designs but  all  has one thing in common to pull hot water or  steam from the ground then use it, and return it as warm water to the heat source.
  • First, dry steam is the steam passes directly through the turbine, then the steam is condensed into water in a condenser.
  • In a second approach, very hot water is depressurized into steam to use to drive the turbine.
  • Third, binary cycle system, the hot water goes through a heat exchanger, where it heats another liquid such as isobutane. The boiling point of Isobutane is lower than water, so it is easy  to convert into steam to run the turbine.
