how is gram panchayat formed
Answers
Gram panchayath is the local self governance system in India. governed by the 73rd amendment , which is concerned with Rural Local Governments. Any village having a population of atleast 500 people can form a gram panchayath. Each panchayath is divided into wards and each ward will have a elected member . The size of the ward depends on the population of that particular area. The minimum no; of members should be 5 . After forming a new gram panchayath it is mandatory to conduct election within 6 months and choose a gram panchayath President.
Inorder to form a gram panchayath the chief executive officer collects necessary information and submits to standing committee. If the standing committee approves the decision then orders are given to district collector to form a new gram panchayath . Then election is conducted and gram panchayath is officially established . All of these procedures will take atleast 6 months or more to get completed
