In Palampur, there are a total of 450 families. In this 450 families, 150 families belong to lower castes such as the dalits and do not own many land. Sometimes, these people will not have any land, and, will become landless labourers. In the next 300 families, 240 are small farmers while the other 60 are large farmers. They own majority of the land , ie, 75 percentage , in Palampur.

1) cultivation of such plots does not bring adequate income to farmer family.
2) A few larger farmers have land extanding over 10 hectares or more.
3)in palampur about one third of the 450 families are landless i.e 150 families have no land for cultivation.
