Hello...

In this Reaction, Mg act as Electron Donator and Cl act as an electron receiver. Mg should lose its 2 Electrons and Cl should gain one electron to realize their complete Octate. Then electrostatic bond formation takes place between Mg and Cl ions which Provides Magnesium Chloride as Final Compound.
