MARKFED is The Punjab State’s co-operation supply & marketing federation ltd. It was registered in 1954. It is involved for the well being of the farmer’s welfare.Various incentive schemes are launched by the federation for the benefits of the farmers.
It is engaged in procuring agri products like Paddy,Wheat and Cotton from farmers and on the other hand provide them with agri-inputs like fertilizers, seeds and agro-chemicals.
MARFED supplies cattle feed to the farmers through its dealers and co-operative societies. The farmers are also assisted by MARFED in the area of soil and water testing services at their doorstep. It procures honey from farmers too which has helped the co-operative to set up Honey Processing Plant.
MARFED is responsible for the distribution of fertilizers through Cooperative Societies throughout the state. It has also launched insurance scheme, which gives coverage its farmer members in case of permanent disablility or accidental death . Through its strong network it is able to assess the requirement in areas like fertilizers and agri input through the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies . It also creates certain value addition for the farmers like Markfed Canneries and Rice Mills.
