Osmosis. Osmosis is the special case of diffusion involving water molecules. ... A selectively permeable membrane allows small, soluble molecules to pass through it, but prevents large insoluble molecules from passing through.

ANSWER:

The osmosis is different from diffusion in various ways and it is also considered as special case of diffusion as there is movement of particle in both the processes.

EXPLANATION:

In diffusion there is movement of both, that is solute and solvent from high density to low density. But in the case of osmosis there is movement of only solvent from high concentration to low concentration of solvent.

It is important for living beings as it is a cellular process. Many of the cell take water through it. Also the there are some implicational use like resins, eggs, etc.
