An oxidation-reduction (redox)reaction is a type of chemicalreaction that involves a transfer of electrons between two species. An oxidation-reduction reaction is any chemical reaction in which the oxidation number of a molecule, atom, or ion changes by gaining or losing an electron.

Oxidation Reduction reaction is also called as Redox reactions.
example:- Zn+CuSO4 :-) ZnSO4+Cu
In the above reaction there is both oxidation and reduction
In the above reaction Zn undergoes oxidation by losing 2electrons,and Cu undergoes reduction by gaining 2 electrons
by this we can say that the above reaction is a Redox reaction.
