human beings are transported in various ways. The majority of oxygen, that is 97%, is transported as oxyhaemoglobin, a combined state of oxygen and haemolgoin. The remaining oxygen is present in the form of dissolved oxygen in blood plasma.

Oxygen and carbon dioxide are transported via the blood throughout the body.

The oxygen binds to the iron atoms in the haemoglobin where as the carbon dioxide is transported in 3 ways:

Binds to harmoglobin

Transported as carbonate ions

Transported normally as CO2 in the blood.
