Protect winter root crops like carrots, beets, celeriac, and parsnips with a deep mulch of shredded leaves or straw. Quick cloches are perfect for protecting container vegetables or mature garden plants like kale. To make one, slip a tomato cage overtop your plant, or or surround it with three to four bamboo posts.

In cold countries, except in arctic and antarctic regions, there is a short window of warm season (around 3 months) during which a crop is grown and harvested in open fields. Mostly cold-tolerant crops are cultivated in cold countries.

In addition, crops are grown year round under controlled environment inside greenhouses. In the greenhouses, light, temperature, air quality, relative humidity, nutrient solutions, and water quality are all controlled at optimum for plant growth. Mostly fresh vegetables and some fruits are cultivated in such greenhouses.

Hope it helps
