Poverty is the social condition wherein people remain financially weak that they could not afford to make the two ends meet.

If India needs to overcome poverty then it has to find a reliable and a functional strategy in which the poor can be identified and measured

The first to introduce the concept of poverty line in India was Dadabai Naoroji. He presumed that one third of the population is children and their food requirement had not been taken care of which makes them poor. He derived an equation to viably measure the poverty. A planning commission was appointed which identified the poor.
