The President is elected by the National People's Congress (NPC), China's highest state body, which also has the power to remove the President and other state officers from office. Elections and removals are decided by a simple majority vote.

n china, the representatives are elected by the people but it is not open as there is indirectly ONLY 1 party ruling China, Chinese Communist Party ( CCP ). To contest in an election, you had to be a member of CCP or eight smaler parties allied to it were allowed to contest in elections of 2002-03. To contest in an election you need the approval of the CCP. Making China a communist country justifying that the elctions are not held in a free or fair manner.

To make the elections fair, China needs to be a democratic country
