Treat the propanone with grignard reagent that magnesium methyl bromide.

CH_3CO-CH_3+CH_3Mg-Br\rightarrow CH_3-C(CH_3)(OMgBr)-CH_3

Hydrolysis of product obtained in above step gives us 2-methylpropan-2-ol.

CH_3-C(CH_3)(OMgBr)-CH_3\overset{H^+/H_2O}\rightarrow CH_3-C(CH_3)(OH)-CH_3+Br-Mg(OH)
