Rainbow is formed with the dispersion of light. When the sun light is in contact with the droplets of water they are dispersed into 7 colours which is VIBGYOR

If I take physics into consideration then rainbox is simply a special case or phenomenon due to refraction of light.

When the light rays of sun fall on raindrops, the polychromatic ray of light suffers refraction and gets deviated into different paths according to the wavelength of different colours

And then it emrges out making a rainbow
