The regular growth of population is a main cause of poverty in the following ways: Due to high population growth, rate, pressure on resources will increase. Due to high rate of population growth, unemployment will increase. High population growth rate increases the rate of depletion of resources. Due to less income, the people belonging to below poverty line will increase. Low growth rate of incomes accompanied by a high growth rate of population make the growth rate of Per Capita Income very low. And the failure of both the fronts : promotion of economic growth and population control perpetuated the cycle of poverty.
