Ans. The negative acceleration produced is known as retardation.

Where as the rate of change of velocity is defined as acceleration.

Acceleration:

a=v-u/t

Acceleration is of two types uniform acceleration and non uniform acceleration

Uniform acceleration: the acceleration produced when the velocity of a body changes uniformly.

Non uniform acceleration: it is acceleration produced when the velocity of a body changes non-uniformly.
