Scattering of light into 7 colours is known as Dispersion

in scatering light energy is randomly directed in all directions but in dispersion light energy only get seperated in terms of colours but do not get directed in all directions randomly.

rainbow is an example of dispersion where as blue colour of sky is example of scattering.
