humans have 23 pair of chromosomes out of which 22 are autosomes. and one pair is of sex chromosome.
females have a perfect pair of sex chromosomes (ie- XX), so they will always contribute X chromosome. on the other hand males have a mismatched pair of sex chromosomes (ie- XY).
The sex of the child depends upon the chromosome inherited by his father. An egg fertilised with X chromosome carrying sperm results in a girl child. and if a Y chromosome carrying sperm fuses with egg, male child would born
hope this helps
best of luck for exams ✌
