Washing soda is a common chemical that we directly or indirectly use in our daily life. But we are not much aware about the chemical formula of this chemical. This chemical is known as hydrated Sodium carbonate. The molecular formula of the same is Na2CO3 . 10H2O.But the matter we have to take care is about the number of water molecules in this equation. If the 10 molecules of water is absent in the equation the compound is not hydrated and therefore cannot be called washing soda. In the absence of water molecules it is just Soda ash. Now let us consider the process of preparation of washing soda. The compound is produced by a special process named Solvay process
