In humans sound is produced by the voice box or the larynx.
The voice box is at the upper end of the wind pipe.
Two vocal cords are stretched across the voice box in such a way that it leaves a narrow slit between them.
Air passes through these slits. When air from lungs is forced out through the slit, the vocal cords vibrate to produce sound.
