how is sound propagated ? does sound travel in vacuum ? why

shipra2250: sound propagates through compression and rarefaction of particles present in any medium . sound canmot travel in vaccum because in vaccum no particle is present and therefore no compression and rarefaction of particles takes place.

sound is propagated in longitudinal waves in form of pulse and it always requires a medium to travel so it cannot travel in vacuum
(the medium for sound to travel can be any solid ,liquid or gas)
