How is sucrose removed from the phloem at the sink?

Answer:
Do Curse Damage stay with a ship when it sinks?
I've already posted this to the Plaid Hat FAQ Forum, but figured I'd check here too.
Rule 7 states that "A curse card cannot [be] removed with a repair action. It can only be removed by following the instructions on the card or by a special power." (p. 10: New Damage Cards: Curses)
The order of operation that the book lists for damage and sinking is:
1. Take damage. (p.10: Damage)
2. If the ship would take a third damage/curse card it sinks. (p. 10: Damage)
3. If the ship sinks, remove its upgrades and return them to the supply exhausted. (p. 10, Sinking)
4. Lose glory for each upgrade returned to the supply. (p. 10, Sinking)
5. Return any goods in the hold to the supply. (p. 10, Sinking)
6. Place the ship on your province board. (p. 10, Sinking)
7. Rebuild it with a repair action. (p. 10, Sinking)
8. The Repair dismisses all damage cards. (p. 15: Repair OR Upgrade)
Since there is no step in the Sinking process (that I can find) that dismisses all damage cards, it looks like it is the Repair function in rebuilding the ship that actually dismisses the damage cards. If that's the case, it looks like the Curse cards would stay with the ship even after rebuilding.
Thematically since it is a rebuilding, part of me wants to think that the "new" ship is starting fresh. But, I can also see thematically how Curses can carry over even to rebuilt "new" ships. Our group is happy to play it out whichever way was intended. Just want to make sure we're playing it correctly.

Everything is dismissed from Ship. The ship is dead you are building a whole new ship.
Ship is returned to Home Harbor where you must Rebuild it.
Guild Action is 'really' Repair/Rebuild OR Upgrade.
Curse cards ARE classified as Damage Cards.
They only come into play seperately when determining how much of each card you can have before sinking. Whereas you can have 2 of each 'different' Damage Card and a third of either sinks it.

You're right, this is an oversight in the rules. The developers have clarified that (Box 3 spoiler, I think)

Answer:
At the sources (usually the leaves), sugar molecules are moved
into the sieve elements (phloem cells) through active transport. This water creates turgor pressure in the sieve elements, which forces the sugars and fluids down the phloem tubes towards the sinks.
