The brook is a symbol of eternity since the beauty of nature is eternal. It is mentioned in the poem- 'The Brook" by Alfred Lord Tennyson-
"For men may come and men may come and men may go,
But I go on forever."
The brook's journey begins from the mountains, where it is full of energy, just like a new-born baby. Later, it meanders and plays hide and seek with the vegetation around it, just like a playful child. Finally the brook joins the brimming river in a slow and smooth manner. This movement is in contrast with the old age of man, when he becomes calm, gentle and lethargic.
The man eventually dies but the brook- the beauty and serenity of the nature goes on forever.
