The concentration of hydroponic ions decreases if an acid is added to  diluted it, because adding water the H+ ions of the acid and hydroxyl ions of water react to inturn form water molecules, and with more water molecules the concentration of hydroponic ions decreases.

When a solution of an acid is diluted , the number of hydronium ions per volume decreases and concentration decreases .
