the Indian landmass has the central location between the East and West Asia India is a southward extension of the Asian continent .the trans Indian Ocean routes which connect the countries of Europe in the west and the countries of East Asia provide a strategic Central location to India. India has a largest coastline on the Indian Ocean.
* It has given a tremendous boost to India's Meritime trade.
* almost 90% of India's international trade is carried through sea routes
* the sea routes passing through the ocean provides easy connectivity with the east and the West.
* India has developed many ports on its Western and Eastern Coast .This have become centres of India's flourishing shipping industries.
*India shares it land boundaries with Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Bhutan ,Nepal and Myanmar,which have contributed in the exchange of ideas and commodities.
