The Konkan coast is different from the Malabar coast are as follows:-

• The western coastal plains are divided into two parts,Konkan in north,malabar in south.

• Konkan coast is characterised by the development of estuaries and malabar has lagoons and backwater regions and saltwater lakes.

•The western side of the coasts have a rugged and indented line and supports the development of ports. Malabar coast is broken and is also called a karnataka coast.

• Konkan coast is the coastline of submergence and the malabar coast is the coastline of emergence.
