The moon is illuminated by the light of the sun. This light gets reflected on the surface of the moon and that's why we see the moon in the night sky so bright that seems it has its own light. But apart from the reflected light of the sun there are no other significant sources of light in the moon that we are aware of. Sometimes a meteorite hits the surface creating a new crater and a brief explosion but that's all.
