The movement of leaves of the sensitive plant, Mimosa pudica or “touch me not”, occurs in response to touch or contact stimuli. This movement is independent of growth. The movement of shoot towards light is known as phototropism. This type of movement is directional and is growth dependent.

Answer :

The leaves of the sensitive plant move very quickly in response to touch . There is no growth involved in this movement . The directional movement of shoot towards light is slow and is caused by growth . In the movement of the leaves of sensitive plant, the stimulus is touch . In phototropism, the stimulus is light .Also, ine sensitive plant , and the movement is caused by the sudden loss of water from the swelling at the base of leaves ( decline in turgidity ) .In phototropism, the bending is caused by unequal growth on two sides of the shoot .
