in ruminants the foods is not digested at once

first it swallows it the food goes into rumen where it is partially digested and is called cud

then it goes into the reticulum from where it returns to the mouth and then it is chewed again

it s called chewing the cud

finally after chewing it goes to the omasum and then abomasum
